Deneen Fusselman

Deneen has been a teacher at By the Book for three years. She is a retired educator from HCCSC, where she taught at Central Elementary and Flint Springs Elementary for 35 years. She loves being a By the Book teacher because it allows her to share the Gospel with children who are just beginning to learn about Jesus. She finds great joy in giving students hope that this world is not their final destination and in teaching them about the love, grace, and mercy found through Jesus Christ. Deneen especially enjoys witnessing the growth of students as they progress from third to fifth grade. She also finds it deeply rewarding to hear students pray for their families, friends, the world, and themselves.

Her favorite Bible story is from Daniel 3, the account of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. She admires how these three men remained obedient to God, refusing to bow to the pressures of their circumstances. Their boldness in faith, trusting that God was with them whether He saved them from the fiery furnace or welcomed them into eternity, serves as an inspiration for Deneen to live out her faith without fear. This story encourages her to stand firm against worldly pressures, confident that God holds her in His hands no matter the outcome.

Deneen has been married to Ron Fusselman for 20 years. Together, they have seven children and five grandchildren, and she considers being involved in their lives her favorite hobby. She currently attends The Well Church in Huntington. Her all-time favorite worship song is "Holy Forever" by Chris Tomlin, while her go-to pump-up song is "Take It All Back" by Tauren Wells.
